Cathrin Mayer is an independent curator working with artists and colleagues to produce exhibitions, performances, and publications.

She regularly collaborates with HALLE FÜR KUNST Steiermark where she organizes exhibitions and performances with artists such as TARWUK, Kevin Jerome Everson, Colin Self, Yalda Afsah, and Doreen Garner among others. Until May 2020, she held positions as curator and assistant curator at KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin, where she curated and worked on exhibitions by Anna Daučíková, Evelyn Taocheng Wang, Hershman Leeson, Beatriz González, David Wojnarowicz and Hanne Lippard, among others. In addition to her curatorial work, she is writing for magazines such as Frieze, Springerin, and PW Magazine. She regularly teaches such as at the University of the Arts in Berlin. In the academic year 2022/23, Cathrin Mayer holds a Visiting Professorship of Curatorial Practice in the Department of Art History and Theory at the University of Art and Design in Linz. Among others, she is currently working on a substantial group exhibition with a young generation of artists from Kosovo and Albania which will be presented at Westfälischer Kunstverein in 2024.
